U.S. Federal Tax Deadline Extended Until July 15, 2020
In the midst of these very uncertain times, as we’re trying to navigate the new normal of social distancing and working from home, or adjusting to more family members at home, and other job changes or losses, there’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about, at least for a few more months.
The government finally announced that they have extended the deadline for filing your federal 2019 individual taxes, and paying your 2019 balance due (up to $1 million), until July 15th, 2020.
If you are due a refund, you are still encouraged to file your tax return as soon as possible to get your money back in your pocket sooner.
If you need additional time, you can still file an extension that will allow you to FILE your return until October 15th, BUT remember that you still need to make your payment by July 15th.
Make sure you check with your state to see if the deadline has been extended there as well!
