Welcome to Pennies From Heaven, a place where you can learn to take control of your money and reach your financial goals, even if you don’t know where to begin and feel like you will never have financial freedom.

When I got out of college, I had about $40,000 of student debt, but like many millennials, I had dreams of being able to own a home, save for retirement, travel, and enjoy life to the fullest. I wasn’t going to let my debt get in my way, so I had to come up with some creative ways to reach the goals I had set for myself.

I’ve heard way too many people talk about how stressed they are about money, worried about how they will be able to pay bills, student loans, credit cards and still have enough to save for emergencies, a house, retirement and still have fun once in a while. I’m here to show you that it doesn’t have to be that way! I won’t be offering a miracle money cure, but if you follow my advice, you will hopefully be able to develop a stress-free relationship with money.

My goal for this blog is to help my readers take control of their finances, reach their personal financial goals, and debunk the money myths and misconceptions that plague our media, by sharing my personal experiences as a somewhat recent grad, accountant, and financial coach.

About Our Name

The name for this blog comes from a very personal story that I’ve always been a bit hesitant to share. When I was young, I loved helping my grandma with various tasks to earn a small coin purse full of change. For birthdays and holidays, my grandma would often sneak me a crumpled up bill that she had been holding in her hand for the right opportunity to pass it off without being noticed. Shortly after my grandma passed away, I started to find coins and crumpled up bills on the ground everywhere I would go – my Pennies from Heaven. I knew this was my grandma’s way of showing me that she was still with me, and to this day when I find money on the ground it makes me think of my grandma!  All the money I find on the ground is stashed away in a special piggy bank so I can someday share coin purses of change with my kids or grandkids. Seeing my pennies from heaven add up has shown me that every penny really does count when it comes to saving and reaching financial goals!
